You say you lost your way
In the meadow
But you were led astray
By the meadow
Beware lest your body lay
In the meadow
For you may forever stay
In the meadow
… with garlands in your hair
You found the hidden way
Of the sunshine
It leads through the golden gate
Of your own mind
Put away the heavy weight
Of the past times
So you may sustain the day
And be aligned
… with garlands in your hair
Foul of Beast
Fair of the Air
I call ye now
To bring to bear
Your holy rod
Your wisdom cane
Out of the bowels
Of Earthing brain
Walking the path at night
With the shadows
You see a false vision bright
Where the moon glows
Its voice speaks of second sight
Then your eyes close
You feel its soft touch alight
And your soul knows
(And it asks)
Where did the roses grow
That made that garland fair?
And who bound them in the braids
That you wear in your hair?
Was it on Walpurgisnacht
Held in the springtime fair?
Or was it on All Hallow’s Eve,
The name old Samhain bears?
Close the circle of the night
And Samhain’s garland wear
Rest in peace in broad daylight
And leave your spirit clear
